New Resources

Journal Watch

Developed to help physicians stay informed by providing brief, clearly written, clinically focused perspectives on the medical developments that affect practice. Journal Watch surveys the medical literature, selects the most important research and guidelines, distills them into focused summaries, and frames them in a clinical context, plus presents coverage of important medical news, drug information, and public health alerts.

DynaMed fills a need for 'point-of-care' information with clinically-organized summaries on more than 3,000 topics.

A mobile version of the application that runs on iPhones, Blackberries, and Android devices, is also available for free download. Before installing the software on your smartphone you will need to obtain a serial number from the publisher, which can be had by emailing dynamedsupport@epnet.com. Be sure to use your medicine.nevada.edu account when making the request. Serial numbers are valid for one year and then must be renewed by emailing dynamedsupport@epnet.com. To find out more about Dynamed or get help using the program, contact Terry Henner, 775-682-7301, thenner@medicine.nevada.edu

MDConsult has a mobile app that makes it easier to navigate their content when accessing MDConsult from a smartphone.  It does not run as a native application, so it still requires that you connect to them through wifi  or cell service.  Installing the app requires that you first create a personal account on MDConsult.  Go to the Savitt website, click on the MDConsult link, authenticate with MedID if off campus and follow these instructions, per their website:

To create a personal login, simply:

  1. Go to http:// www.mdconsult.com from a computer within your institution.
  2. Click on Create an Account on the top right.
  3. Complete the registration form and create a unique username and password.  Then, click on Continue to submit your information.
  4. Logout of MD Consult.
  5. Using the web browser on your mobile device, go to MD Consult Mobile (http://m.mdconsult.com).
  6. Login to MD Consult Mobile from your mobile browser using your new personal login.
